OfficeMax to Introduce Small-Format Concept
February 05, 2013
Naperville, Ill.-based OfficeMax Inc. will debut a new, smaller urban store format in 2013, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. The new stores will range between 5,000 sq. ft. and 15,000 sq. ft., compared to current stores that can be as large as 30,000 sq. ft. In 2012, the retailer closed about 40 of its 980 stores. This year, in addition to trying the smaller-store strategy, OfficeMax also plans to relocate underperforming stores to locations with a heavier concentration of small business owners.
