Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market has signed a deal for a new location in Midtown Manhattan, according to The Wall Street Journal. The new store, which will be located at Sixth Avenue between 41st and 42nd streets, will take up 10,000 sq. ft. on the ground floor and 22,000 sq. ft. on the second floor. Whole Foods operates stores in eight markets in the city, including a 19,000-sq.-ft. store in Chelsea and a 77,000-sq.-ft. store in Bowery. With four stores in development in Harlem, the Upper East Side, Williamsburg and Bryant Park, the chain plans to increase its presence in the city by 50 percent.
