Nestlé Buys Majority Stake in Blue Bottle Coffee

Swiss food giant Nestlé has announced its purchase of a majority stake in Oakland, Calif.-based coffee brand Blue Bottle. The purchase of the 68-percent stake will assist Nestlé in its efforts to expand an existing footprint built around its Nescafé and Nespresso lines.

Blue Bottle expects to grow its store count from 29 to 55 locations this year, according to The Seattle Times. The company also oversees six locations in Japan.
