Patagonia to Donate All Black Friday Sales

Ventura, Calif.-based outdoor retailer Patagonia has announced that it will be donating 100 percent of its Black Friday sales to grassroots environmental groups this year as part of its fight to protect vital natural resources. The estimated sales this Friday are in excess of $2 million.

According to CNN Money, the donations will be sourced from sales at Patagonia’s 80 global stores and its website. One percent of the brand’s daily sales already go toward the benefit of some 800 environmental organizations.

“We definitely came up with the idea after the election,” says Lisa Pike Sheehy, vice president of environmental activism at Patagonia. “This is a difficult and divisive time for our country. I believe the environment is something we can all come together on. Environmental values are something we all embrace.”
