Vitamin World Announces Chapter 11 Filing


Bohemia, N.Y.-based Vitamin World is the latest retailer to file for Chapter 11 protection this year. The company, which operates 334 stores, has identified 51 stores slated to close as part of the filing. Vitamin World has already shuttered 45 underperforming stores since 2016, retaildive.com reports.

Vitamin World owes a total of $14.4 million in accrued interest on secured debt in addition to $9.5 million on a seller note that originated from the company’s 2016 buyout. Its inventory is valued at roughly $30 million.
