Wal-Mart to Consolidate U.S. Retail Divisions


Bentonville, Ark.-based retail giant Wal-Mart has revealed plans to restructure its operations in the United States, consolidating its business divisions from six down to four. Wal-Mart will also be cutting its regional managers to 36 from 44 as part of the new strategy. The company currently organizes its divisions across the Mid-Atlantic, Midwest, South Central, South East, and West, Reuters reports. Wal-Mart has been consolidating since the beginning of 2017, first reconfiguring its buying operations in February.

Wal-Mart currently oversees roughly 4,177 stores in the U.S.
