    Wepublic, Istanbul
    The latest project from Turkish retailer Boyner Group, Wepublic aims for the kid at heart in all of us. Designed by local firm GAD Architecture and located inside Istanbul’s Akmerkez Mall, the fun-filled store offers graffiti-filled walls, a glass ceiling and a giant spiral chute that allows shoppers to slide from the top floor to the bottom.

    b8ta’s hands-on approach for its customers allows for a retail experience like no other. Part retailer, part lab, the space gives customers the opportunity to not only see new start-up products and gadgets, but also the ability to test them out. With locations in Palo Alto and Santa Monica, Calif.; Seattle; and Austin, Texas, b8ta’s retail mission is to make retail accessible for both product makers and product lovers. We say mission accomplished.

    Sonos, SoHo, New York
    Speaker brand Sonos opened its first-ever retail space in New York’s SoHo neighborhood aimed at giving customers an individualized experience. The store offers ways to listen to music as you would in your own home, with multiple closed-off sitting areas where customers can privately enjoy their tunes. Each room is covered with sheetrock and custom-beveled glass to make them soundproof to provide the best experience.

    Moleskine Café, Milan
    A new take on productivity was brought to life by Moleskine when it expanded on its well-known brand of leather-bound journals to open its first espresso café. Moleskine Café in Milan offers a creative space for artists and workers alike to work or relax while enjoying good company and great espresso.

  • Best Click & Collect
    The Kroger Co.
    Grocery shopping has upped its digital game thanks to Kroger ClickList, which allows for customers to order their groceries online and pick them up at a time slot of their choosing. Customers with a Kroger Plus account can use the click-and-collect service and have their groceries brought out to their car. Kroger ClickList is available now at more than 500 stores.

  • Best Physical/Digital Integration
    Amazon Go, Seattle
    The new “grab and go” store from Amazon allows visitors to experience the easiest shopping experience yet—customers literally grab what they want and walk right out the door. Computer vision, deep learning algorithms and motion sensor fusion were used to create this shopping experience, tied directly into the Amazon app. The Amazon Go store requires no checkout lines and registers are not needed—allowing shoppers to get what they want from the store and simply go.

  • Most Inspiring Architecture
    VIA 57 West, New York
    This extraordinary compound hugging the Hudson River in New York’s Midtown West district offers residential space as well as a fair amount of retail on the bottom levels of the building. Architect Bjarke Ingles brought forth a fresh design with a vision of sustainability that both respects nature and promotes wellbeing by giving back to the environment.

  • Best Lifestyle Brand
    Detroit-based and American bred, Shinola is always creating. From providing quality watches, jewelry, accessories and handbags to also producing bicycles and travel accessories, this well-rounded lifestyle brand never stops innovating outstanding products for its loyal customers. In addition to product distribution, Shinola is dipping its toes into the hospitality sphere with the Shinola Hotel in Detroit (coming fall 2018).
