Retail Sales Suffer Slight Dip in August 2017

Retail sales in the United States took a hit during the month of August, dipping 0.2 percent last month. According to CNBC, the threat of Hurricane Harvey played a role in depressed motor vehicle purchases, which fell 1.6 percent last month. Overall retail sales rose 3.2 percent year-over-year, which points to an underlying strength in domestic demand.
