Retail Sales Rose Nearly One Percent in October


U.S. retail sales surged in October to top off the strongest two-month stretch since early 2014, according to Market Watch. Sales leapt 0.8 percent last month following a 1-percent gain in September. Forecasts had originally envisioned an advance of 0.7 percent.

Automobile dealers enjoyed saw sales peak at 1.1 percent, riding high on an 11-month streak. Gas stations also posted a 2.2-percent increase in sales, which also reflects a price raise at the pump. Online stores, home improvement stores, and grocers all reported positive gains as well.
