Circuit City to Launch as Ecommerce Concept

Shuttered New York-based electronics retailer Circuit City is set to return next month on a new ecommerce platform. Two years in the making, the forthcoming platform will host a variety of content including videos, virtual vignettes, tech support, a reverse-image search engine and an augmented reality concept. According to twice.com, the site also will showcase an expanse of products from home appliances to gaming consoles.

The company, which shuttered its entire retail footprint in 2008, also is said to be pursuing the launch of experiential showrooms to maximize the site’s exposure. Showrooms are estimated to vary between 8,000 sq. ft. and 10,000 sq. ft.
