Starbucks Launches Largest Outpost


Seattle-based coffee giant Starbucks has opened a Reserve Roastery in Shanghai. At 30,000 sq. ft., it is the largest store in the company’s lineup.

According to Mashable, the new Roastery has been enhanced with augmented reality (AR) technology. Visitors are invited to engage with the new Starbucks AR app to explore the store’s many intricacies. The app will detail the origins of the in-house beans and allow users to aggregate virtual badges. Anchored by a two-story, 40-ton copper cask engraved with traditional Chinese stamps, the store is equipped with three coffee bars, one of which stretches 88 feet long—the longest of any other in the Starbucks portfolio. A 3-D-printed tea bar, Italian bakery and ceiling crafted from 10,000 handmade wooden tiles are installed onsite as well.

Starbucks oversees more than 27,000 locations.
