Walmart Introduces Store Assistant in App Update

Bentonville, Ark.-based retail giant Walmart has announced updates to its smartphone app in an effort to better promote in-store shopping. According to a company blog post, the app now includes the Store Assistant, which will launch when shoppers open the app while in-store. The Store Assistant is equipped with features like store maps as well as enhanced technology that scans in-app shopping lists to provide an estimate overall cost and item stock at the nearest Walmart location. The app’s product search bar and scanner also have been improved.

Walmart operates roughly 6,360 locations worldwide.
