Bentonville, Ark.-based retail giant Walmart has announced updates to its smartphone app in an effort to better promote in-store shopping. According to a company blog post, the app now includes the Store Assistant, which will launch when shoppers open the app while in-store. The Store Assistant is equipped with features like store maps as well as enhanced technology that scans in-app shopping lists to provide an estimate overall cost and item stock at the nearest Walmart location.
